And there it stood; the property belonging to Amos the Great. Lan had been to Castle Felirae the night before, a once decrepit fort that the Gertragian rebels had since transformed into their main base of operations. They had tripled the size of the already large structure, had posted new guard towers around it, spread traps all throughout the ultra-dense forest surrounding the property... And, of course, they had reported that their Prince, Naito Sakuranbo, had been residing fully protected inside. Lan had been pissed the night before when she had silently slipped into the castle just to find his room unoccupied. Now, she stared at a much smaller structure through binoculars while sitting at the very top of a giant deciduous tree. The building was just a mile away, but the thick woods made one mile seem like three.

She scanned the clearing surrounding the house, looking for any armed patrols or other threats. There was nothing. Truly, the best defense was nothing at all. Who would suspect an unguarded, nondescript building in the middle of nowhere of housing the Prince of an entire planet? She lowered her binoculars, folding it into a rectangular prism no bigger than her hand, and slipped it into a pocket beside a combat knife. Lan stood up, making the tree wobble, and jumped from branch to branch until she was back on the ground. To be honest, she hated Gertragia. The dense forests made her feel so unsafe, while the leafy carpet that seemed to cover the entire planet crunched loudly with every step, making it excruciatingly difficult for her to move around silently. Silence had almost grown as normal as blinking. Her soldier sense told her to check behind every tree, which, of course, she couldn't possibly do. And it was intolerably humid. She was dressed in her typical assassin attire; black shoes, black pants, black long sleeve shirt, and a black cloth covering her nose and mouth just in case someone saw her face. Pretty much the only skin visible was on the top half of her face, and her hands. Gertragia's humidity made it impossible to be comfortable in them. And this was at night, when the temperature and humidity was lowest. This was by far the worst planet in existence.

Lan did some quick stretches and cracked her neck and knuckles. Soon, she would be changing history. But she had decided it would be best if no one discovered who the killer of Prince Naito was. Heck, she didn't even know the name of her employer, or even what he looked like. All she had been told was her target, and her reward. But that was fine. As she felt blood pumping through her veins, Lan leaned forward for a split second before sprinting off in the direction of Amos' residence. She ran faster and faster, straining her muscles to their limits while dodging tree roots and other natural debris. She whipped past some sort of wild animal before narrowly avoiding a tree. Forests sucked, man. Lan leaped over a wall of bushes, landed on her hands, and flipped onto a tree branch that bent downward from her weight. Then, like a catapult, the branch launched her into the air and over a wide ditch. She continued her sprint and only stopped when she finally reached the wall of Amos' home.

Lan skirted around the perimeter, dodging the occasional yellow light spilling from a window. Normally she wouldn't be able to see crap on this late night, but she was cool enough to bring night-vision contacts with her. She grabbed the brick wall and clawed herself up three stories onto the roof. From there she spotted the telltale shape of the roof she had been told was directly above Prince Naito's room. According Mister Unknown's information, Naito was "without a doubt" residing underneath. Lan walked to the edge of the roof and peeked in through a window, satisfied to see the famous Ilet cat, but of course he had to make things hard. The Prince just had to be awake. Looks like this assignment was gonna be loud.

She flipped back onto her feet and examined her surroundings. Lan scuffed her shoe on the ground, taking note of the sound that the roof was surprisingly dense. Maybe this place didn't suck as much as it seemed first glance. Her eyes were drawn to small metal beams poking around the roof's perimeter, easily six feet away from the actual building and running around parallel to the whole house. She had seen these before; They often carried wires when the building's inner walls didn't have enough room, or they were lightning rods, or communication antenna. Whatever they were, they were perfect.

Lan returned to her position above the window, and reached down her arm. It was time to finish this, dawg. She rapped on the window with her fist and quickly moved her arm away from the window. With any luck, the Prince would investigate and get a foot in his face as a reward. But it didn't really matter anyway; Natio was already dead no matter what he did because she never failed. She took quickly took several steps back from the window, then sprinted forward and jumped as high as she could. On the way down, Lan reached out, grabbed the small metallic beams, and let the momentum swing her around like some sort of crazed gymnast. She let go at just the right moment and swung herself through the window, foot stretched out in front.

OOC: I disappointed myself. D:

((*TRIES*))

This was one of those nights when Naito really despised the Evoknights. Because if they hadn't come to Sigma, he'd still be there. And not here, in the middle of a war zone. His striped tail lashed, and he replayed the scenes of destruction over in his mind. He'd enjoyed his time with the humans, no matter how strange the creatures were. But this was for the best, he supposed, sighing.

Suddenly, he heard a rap at his window. Who in- His ears flicked forwards, his blue eyes curious. He wondered who it was who would climb up to his room just to talk to him. It seemed like the people, er, aliens, avoided him like the plague as of late. He did have a high bounty on his head... But some companionship was nice...

The Ilet boy walked over to the window, opening it and peering outside. No sooner had he done this than he was thrown backwards, back onto his bed. His face throbbed, and he thought he heard his nose crack from the impact. He instantly pressed one hand to his face, ears laying back flat and his tail bushing out.

His eyes stung from the pain in his nose, and he looked up, the watery blue orbs widening at the black-clad thing now standing in his room. He instantly scrambled up, bristling in alarm. "Wh-who are you?" he demanded, attempting to sound like he was a brave prince instead of the real coward he was.

Lan answered Naito with nothing but a vicious glare, and reached toward a combat belt across her waist. Maybe, just maybe, it would be best not to tell the prince her name, she thought, as she grabbed the hilt of a large kraton-style blade and unsheathed it with her left hand, flipped it expertly into her right hand, and positioned herself to strike. Yeah, I just wrote one sentence with six commas. BEAT THAT DAWG!

"Someone hired me to murder you..." Lan said, still glaring. "Your leadership skills are equal to that of a five-year old human. You should've stayed on Fandors where scum like you belong." And at that, she launched herself at the prince, raised her silvery knife into the air, and slashed diagonally at Naito's face.

OOC: ... Yeah. ;-;

The Ilet prince's ears pressed down harder on his skull at that, his eyes widening with fear at the sight of the blade. He instantly bristled at the comment, about to say something, but his voice caught in his throat. He tried to scramble back on his bed in time, but was still left with a shallow, bloody line going over the bridge of his nose. He gasped at the burning, stinging pain, then instantly tried to flee for the door.

Though he had combat skills, he hadn't ever been forced to use them, and as soon as the situation had gotten like this he'd forgotten them! His bristling tail lashed as he fought with the locked door, almost wailing in frustration. Why was it locked every night!? Did they understand that these assassins were more than likely able to climb trees up to high windows? What was wrong with them?!

I JUST LIKE TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS YO.

Lan grunted in slight annoyance as her blade sliced through the air. She had underestimated the prince's speed, and watched closely as he turned tail and ran. So, she clearly hadn't underestimated his cowardice and smarts. Yeah, turn your back to an assassin. Suddenly she wished she had brought a gun. But it would slow her down, and she assumed the Sakuranbo would be asleep when she left her makeshift camp.

Lan flipped her knife back into her left hand, just in case she needed to block something, then sprinted at Naito and hurled her fist at the back of his head. A good blow like that could accomplish this crappy mission.
