Depression is a disease [KENJI!] Empty
PostSubject: Depression is a disease [KENJI!]   Depression is a disease [KENJI!] EmptySun Jul 24, 2011 5:21 pm

The hallway was dark and deserted. Lobo stood with her back to the door leading into her room, her spine perfectly erect and her hands running over the cold metal, feeling every tiny electrical impulse running through the plate of steel behind her. It was like it was alive, with so many chirps and pops of electricity. Her face was completely blank. She didn't feel like being in her room. It was lonelier in there than it was out here, even if she did have a room mate. She had no idea who it was. She didn't care, it was probably someone she'd never even seen before. Station Two was full of strange humans, it unnerved her.

Lobo slumped, her impassive visage shattering. So she lost another home. Earth was worlds away now that Sigma was gone too. Her brothers and sister were long dead, her mother, her friends. Everything that had once made her happy had been burned by the Evoknights, whom she hadn't even helped to defeat. I was supposed to be able to protect them, she thought, miniscule traces of tears building up on the corners of her eyes. She raised her hand from the door and clenched it into a fist, electricity gathering around it. She hadn't even killed a single Evoknight. Why was she feeling like this now? Her family was dead, so was everyone else's, and they didn't seem torn up about it at all. They weren't emotionless automatons, so what was wrong with her? Lobo regained her painfully upright posture, rapping her knuckles against the wall at her side, causing sparks to fly off of it. She wouldn't be called weak for feeling any sort of sadness, she wouldn't let anyone see her like that.

Depression is a disease [KENJI!] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Depression is a disease [KENJI!]   Depression is a disease [KENJI!] EmptyTue Jul 26, 2011 11:39 am

Kenji sped along Station 2's corridors, weaving around the occasional pedestrian. With his feet magnetically attached to the old-fashioned skateboard below him, he leaped down a short flight of stairs, landed softly, and accelerated the skateboard forward without even touching the ground. He swerved through a hallway, kickflipped down another flight of stairs, and narrowly avoided slamming into the wall of an abrupt turn.

Right at this moment, he couldn't think of a better place to be. Other than Earth. He couldn't go skateboarding on Sigma, it was too crowded and everyone would look at him weirdly for using an unorthodox means of transportation. There also weren't any good places for tricks; here, there were plenty of handrails, stairs, curved walls in the hangar, and few enough people to have these places to himself sometimes.

He rolled through the hallway, passing a sign that said GAMMA DISTRICT in glowing cobalt-blue letters. Must be why it's called Blue Place.... Blue Zone. Whatever. He accelerated along the corridor once more, deciding whether or not to try to become friends with another random person, like what he did with Raimaru, or to just keep on rollin', but his train of thought derailed when he saw Lobo. She looked terrible. Not the ugly kind of terrible, but the terrible kind of terrible. Not the mean kind of terrible, just...terrible. I guess mean terrible is usually written as horrible. But she didn't look horrible. At least not the mean kind of horrible. She just looked... terrible. Yeah, I'll just stick with that word.

He rolled beside Lobo, kicked his skateboard up, caught it, and put his free arm around Lobo. "Why the long face?" He asked, wishing happiness was an energy he could radiate to anything.

Lobo jumped a little when she heard Kenji's voice and felt his arm around her shoulders. He was warm, so she moved closer. "It's nothing, I'm just being stupid," she murmured, her voice sounding a little hoarse. She looked up his face, noting the almost carefree look it had in the Why couldn't she be like that, like everyone else who just thought that it was okay that the rest of their race was dead and that Even if he was her boyfriend, she didn't need to be exhibiting this kind of behavior around him, especially when he'd gone through much worse than her; his imprisonment in Weavon came to mind. Wiping a silvery tear off of her cheek as discretely as she could, Lobo tried to give a small smile.

Kenji snickered a little. "Then stop being stupid, it's my turn." He put both arms around Lobo and hugged her tightly. "Seriously though, whatever you think," he added in a more solid tone, "You're not stupid."

He let go of Lobo and leaned against the wall next to her. One of the most hated things in the world to him was seeing a girl upset like that. He thought about asking her what was wrong, but he thought the whole tell-me-what's-wrong-and-you'll-feel-better thing was BS, and it looked kind of dumb and clichéd. But then again, it was his turn to be stupid, right? "So Lobo... is everything okay?"

Lobo returned Kenji's hug with equal tightness. He made her feel warm; she smiled, wrapping her arms around his back and pulling him closer. She could have stayed like that for at least a half hour, but Kenji pulled away and leaned against the wall beside her.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she murmured, planting her violet gaze on the wall directly across from her. "It's just-," Lobo looked down and shuffled her feet slightly. She wasn't good with expressing her emotions, or whatever this was. "...I've been thinking about everything. And some people that I miss." Images more like ghostly apparitions flew through her mind. She missed her family the most out of anything, more than the ship she'd learn to drive long before she was supposed to, the pet dog she'd had since it was a puppy, and anything else she could think of. She grabbed Kenji's hand and stepped closer. Don't cry now...

"Oooooh..." Kenji nodded. He began to realize exactly what she meant, and now he hesitated. No stupid, cheesy jokes would lighten the mood here. He just avoided thoughts like those. If he thought about them every day, toiling through the possibilities, playing the what-if game, he'd probably go insane. He tightened his grip on her hand, and tried to think of something reassuring to say.

"Uh..." God, he had to say something helpful. His hapiness deteriorated as he had a few flashbacks of his life on Earth. Telling Lobo to forget about them would be jerkish. Say something, dammit. Probably a minute passed before he really did. And some of it were guesses. "You just gotta be strong, Lobo. What's happened, happened, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. You survived 'cause people knew you were strong and could deal with all this crap..." I sound ridiculous.

Depression is a disease [KENJI!] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Depression is a disease [KENJI!]   Depression is a disease [KENJI!] EmptyFri Jul 29, 2011 10:46 pm

Lobo sighed. Her eyes, now glassy from wetness, flicked from Kenji to the floor and back to Kenji. She wanted to tell him everything, but she didn't want to burden him. And most of all she didn't want to cry, which would inadvertently happen if she poured out her feelings like that. Tears were the staple of weakness. Not in others, only in herself. Be strong. She had to be strong, there was no other way. But she didn't want to be almost like everyone else!
-Emotionally crippled shells, probably not even able to feel happiness anymore. Like machines...

Lobo wrapped her arms around Kenji once more and buried her face in his neck. A few tears streamed down her cheek and she prayed he wouldn't notice them.

Kenji sighed as he wrapped his arms around Lobo again and gave the warmest hug he could muster. He felt the wetness from Lobo's tears, and immediately hated himself for not being good at moments like this. And her silence was bad, too. "If there's something you want to tell me, I'm always here for you, alright?" Another cliché. He kissed her lightly on the cheek and patted her back, not really sure what to do. Were there classes he could take for something like this?

Lobo felt warmth seep into her. She closed her eyes. "I feel a lot better now, Kenji," she said quietly. Truthfully, not everything was fixed. There was still an aching sadness in her, but it was less. Just him saying that he'd always been there for her had done a lot. Maybe it was okay if she relied on someone for some things. She pulled away from him a moment and wiped the tears from her face. "I love you," she said even more quietly than before, leaning back into the embrace. But instead of putting her head back on his shoulder, she brought it up to his and kissed him on the lips.

Kenji felt a rush of warmth and fuzziness when Lobo kissed him. Was this really the first time they had done this? He would stay here forever if he could, lips pressed against Lobo's, and not have a worry in the world. He was so relieved they were both safe now that the Evoknights were gone for good.

When the kiss was over and done with, which for once he waited for Lobo to pull away, he hugged her even tighter than before. "Love you too, Lobo. Is everything alright now?" He loosened his grip and rubbed her back with one hand, glad that the waterworks had stopped.

The kiss lasted a good twenty seconds, and Lobo loved every bit of it. That was the first time she and Kenji had ever really kissed, and the first time she'd ever kissed anyone at all. She felt hot in the face, and her problems seemed even further away. So far away that she could forget about them, just for a moment. "Yeah."

She looked past Kenji at the door to her room. She was getting sort of tired, but she didn't really want to be greeted at the door by some random human she'd never met before. Hopefully she at least roomed with a girl this time...

Kenji rested his head on Lobo's, determined to kill any last remnants of sadness. "When I first looked at this space station, I thought it would suck, and I had already started thinking about leaving. But I quickly realized this is a great place. I had forgotten what it was like to have a normal conversation with another human, without UWUC breathing down our necks or Evoknights being brought up. You just have to talk to people, and it feels great. Lobo, you're the last piece of the puzzle that makes it all perfect." Geez, it felt weird to talk like that. Dawg.

"C'mon Lobo, let's walk..." He said calmly, took her hand in his, and started walking to nowhere in particular... And forgetting about the skateboard he came here with, now just lying on the floor.

She pulled Kenji closer. Lobo had never heard him say something like that. She blinked a few times, taking in what he'd said. Talk to people. Lobo was horrible at socializing. Probably because she was abrasive to pretty much everyone. Mm.

"Where are we going?" Lobo asked with a slight grin as Kenji led her down the hall.

Kenji shrugged. "I have no idea," He said confidently. "But somewhere great." After all, wherever he was, the area around him was automatically awesome, man. He hoped he could find somewhere interesting. He hardly even knew where his own room was, nevermind anything else.

He walked down several corridors and a few flights of stairs silently, just happy to be holding Lobo's hand, until he came to doorway that read RECREATIONAL painted boldly above the spotless iron doors. Everywhere else had glowly lights for banners, so this place probably wasn't completely built yet. But from his ten second look at the PDA Lenina had given him, he knew there were some parts that were safe to go in. Unless the holographic green images were no different from the red ones, and they were colored differently just to look pretty.

He grabbed the handle and heaved the door open with his free hand. "Just a quick little look," He muttered, not really caring if he stayed here an hour. It wasn't long before he was looking inside a huge room that looked like it had been taken out of a human casino, complete with blackjack tables and pool tables. "Is there anything Station 2 doesn't have?"

Lobo stuck closely at Kenji's side, following his every twist and turn down and around the station. Her eyes traveled across the Recreation room, finding several objects of interest. She didn't know how to play most of these games though. "I don't think so," She said, stepping inside and tugging Kenji behind her. Lobo looked around the room, searching for any signs of life. There was no one here. The only things watching were the empty card tables, who weren't really watching at all. Because they weren't alive. Silly.

Lobo turned to Kenji and shifted her weight to and fro between her feet. Lobo gazed at the floor. Ugh. She felt... weird. Out of nowhere, an impulse tore through her, and she snapped her fingers. As the sound of the snap, almost as if they were commanded, the lights in the Recreation room shut off, leaving the only source of illumination starlight. Lobo stepped closer to Kenji, a little tentatively.

ooc: The card tablethings be creepin'.

Kenji followed Lobo's tug, and felt a bit alarmed as the lights were killed, then put two and two together and realized Lobo's snap had done it. "That was pretty cool," He said, hopping up on a nearby billiard table. He pulled Lobo onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her.

"So...what do you want to do now?" He whispered, as if he might wake up someone sleeping. Or something like a rabid card table. He guessed it was getting late, but then again, it was impossible to tell what "night" was in space.

"Thanks," Lobo said with a small grin that was invisible in the newborn darkness. She leaned into Kenji, putting almost all of her weight against his chest. "I dunno, maybe..." Her voice (which was also in a whisper, she had no idea why) trailed off. Lobo bit her lip.

She never finished her sentence, instead she turned in Kenji's lap so that she was facing him and planted a kiss on his neck.

Kenji snuggled Lobo and leaned back until he was lying flat on the table. Man, he probably should have brought her up to his room, but he wasn't completely sure she'd follow him up there anyway. And it would be awkward to show any Gamma a room as totally awesome as his.

He moved his hands down along Lobo's sides and rested them on her lower back and let a few fingers slip under her shirt. He planted another kiss on Lobo, right before I decided to stop writing.

The end.

Lobo arched her body into Kenji's, making any space between them virtually nonexistent. God, what was she doing?! Whatever it was, she liked it- she guessed. This was all new... She felt his hands running along her sides and got goosebumps when they touched her bare skin. She returned his kiss and echoed his movements, running her hands along his sides. But she veered off somewhere around his waist and ended up with her hands curled over his two front-most belt loops.

Her fingers stayed where they were, but the palms of her hands found themselves pushing lightly on Kenji's inner thigh. She bit her lip again and rolled over, pulling Kenji over on top of her.

The card table shuddered a little. Oh God, it thought, What the heck is this?!
It looked out of the window instead of at the couple, with sadness in it's eyes. Ol' Billy the Billiard table would never be the same.
